George and Dragon Charlesworth
“Lovely little pub, visited with friends and the dogs and was made very welcome. All had a hot lunch and was also very good, hope to be back soon.”
Distant Hills Brewing
“This brewery outlet and restaurant has a pleasant green setting in Old Glossop with outdoor and indoor seating, helpful staff and imaginative options on the menu, including vegan and veggie ones - a lot of the options are light bites rather than full meals, and of course there are the various house beers. The pictured jerk chicken dish really was divine and as you can see also nicely presented. I liked the chef's dedication and enthusiasm. It's worth going to try some dishes that are a bit different, even if you're not big on beer. On that topic, I haven't the heart to deduct a star for it, but it is a shame that no alcohol-free beer is on offer, and secondly, I once ordered a home-brewed 'Hefeweizen' which is a German-style wheat beer cloudy with yeast in it, and it was served lukewarm. Being firstly German and secondly a refreshing summer drink this type of beer absolutely needs to be consumed properly chilled!”
Woolley Bridge Working Mens Club
“Really friendly staff and locals, and a great whisky selection”
The Windsor Castle
“Called in 4 days ago when everywhere was snowed under and the roads were deadly with ice! The absolutely lovely landlady came rushing to the door and guided us into the warmth. She had one of the staff make a hot coffee for my husband free! I bought a lager and lime which was just perfect. While we were there two paramedics called in to use the toilets; and again, the landlady made them both a cup of coffee free of charge! What a lovely, down to earth lady! The other staff were friendly too. Really nice, traditional pub with wonderfully welcoming staff. Highly recommended! ☺️”
Harvey Leonard's Wine & Ale
“Well, where do I start. It’s great here. Great but… Just a few negatives. Or development points - Only 1 free pint. Pitiful. - my drinking partner made me hurry my drink. I’ll drink when I’m ready. - not enough staff smelled of disinfectant - the noise was too ambient - it wasn’t overpriced enough - the mistletoe was too high - too many urinal cakes - the lady with grey beard behind the bar had a ‘ghost of Christmas past’ vibe Other than that a really pleasant experience. The right amount of gas and stemmed beer glasses too. 6 out of 5 for me.”
The Hunters Inn
“A great free house, with great hand pulled bitter, and to my delight, Timothy Taylor's landlord,it was, spot on.The pub itself, is clean and comfortable, with friendly staff, and the out side space, has great seating, and Fabulous views.”
Hare & Hounds
“We have visited The Hare and Hounds twice in the past week. Once on Sunday for lunch and on Tuesday night for quiz night. Both times we were made to feel very welcome. Food was good. Staff were friendly and there was a nice buzz about the place. The only slight downside is the toilet that is cold and needs decorating. Our dog Milo loved it too.”
The Queens Arms
“Fantastic staff, friendly and going out of their way to help. Breakfast was just perfect. Good sized rooms with all you need. Quiet at night so we slept well. Highly recommended!”
Peels Arms Hotel
“My friend and I decided to visit the peels Arms in Padfield to refresh old distant memories of when we could climb through a hole in the wall. Straight away the landlady welcomed us into the pub. What a lovely landlady, very pleasant and willing to go the extra mile. The pub was warm and cosy with lovely decor. We had a nice meal and were not disappointed , the service was excellent. We don't live locally but will be back sometime with our wifes. Thank you for making our viste so special .”
Lantern Pike Inn
“We stayed near this pub and ate & drank there several times during the week. The staff were lovely and friendly and the pub grub was excellent! The meals were plentiful, an excellent plateful, which is always good for me, and some of the pies in particular, were lovely. The Fidget Pie was definitely one I’d not heard of before, but I’d definitely recommend. So, if you’re looking for friendly staff, friendly locals and excellent pub grub, then I’d highly recommend the Lantern Pike!”
Bluebell Wood
“Just had the brisket Yorkshire pudding wrap ..it was delicious..will be having some more of that..”
Norfolk Arms
“This is a very well located pub/hotel for visiting Glossop main street and the surrounding countryside. The room was a good size, recently decorated, with a good bathroom. We didn't eat there, but the menu looked good. Breakfast was also available from 9.00am. The room and the food were very reasonably priced. Very nice helpful staff which made for an enjoyable stay.”
Pear Tree Inn
“Lively most of the time but nice when quiet too anybody welcome anytime at this local pub. Don't expect food but expect a traditional warm welcome.”
Ritzmart Off Licence
“Very nice for shopping. Staffs and owners very help full. Wide range of products bargains price.!”
The Chieftain
“One of the best lamb shanks I've possibly ever had. The lamb just melted in your mouth. So full of flavour. And the chef was so friendly after coming out to tell the group I was with a little about each of the Thai dishes they had. Would highly recommend to anyone.”
