“A fantastic pub decorated beautifully. There's a lovely conservatory to have your meal too. I had the carvery. There was about 5 different meat choices and huge Yorkshire puddings. Pigs in blankets are available at an extra charge. There's a great selection of vegetables. Lovely roast potatoes, boiled potatoes, mushy peas, cauliflower cheese, broccoli, mixed vegetables. 3 types of gravy. Vegetarian, meaty gravy and gravy with peppercorns. The usual sauces are available, apple, cranberry, mint. Our server was Marc who was just delightful. Me and my friend will definitely be coming back.”

“This store has recently gone under new ownership. The previous owners were alright but some of the staff working the tills weren't the friendliest. Now under the new ownership, I personally have noticed the man who is behind the counter is really friendly and nice and chats to you sometimes. He clearly cares about this store as I have seen him cleaning the exterior and interior of this store during my visits and the previous owners I never saw them doing this. The store has been upgraded quite a bit with more variety of items to choose from and the whole back section is now a fridge unit with tons of drinks and dairy products to choose from. Currently I think the store is heading in a better direction to what it used to be like under the previous owners and I hope the new owner stays and keeps up the good work as this little shop is a nice place to go to for majority of the items you would need for a small shop before getting a big shop in. Currently it really adds to this side of Handforth making it a nice alternative to walking into town to go to the little Tesco there or the spar for your small shop. Would definitely recommend this place and they also sell some items you probably wouldn't find elsewhere like I've seen Takis crisps which are from America. Overall a really nice little shop.”

“I had a gas card emergency and the chaps in the shop couldn't do more to help me, they were really helpful and kind considering I'd been to 2 other shops for replacement gas card and they were useless but the chaps here at Hayes lane fabulous saved my but from frost bite... Thank you”

When deciding where to have my 30th birthday party a few people mentioned that Fig&Fennel do private events in the evening - wow wow wow! Lee was great! “I can’t believe I’ve not been before! Always chasing the sun I opted for its neighbour, as a treat to my mother I booked a birthday lunch here. I was pleasantly surprised, quaint courtyard with secluded spots you wouldn’t know you we’re next to a road. For food we tried all of the small dishes (tapas style) super tasty and enough to share. Engaging staff and a quirky interior see for a perfect visit. We will be returning soon”
