“Is it the pasta or the sauce? Set aside any fears of school dinner Mac and cheese, Sugo is on a different level altogether. Having lucked out on getting a table after 2 years of living nearby, I relished the chance to review them. The space is warm but snug. Large parties will struggle especially with COVID restrictions. Not an issue in summer, but a possible one in Winter. They’re dog friendly as they have some seating outside, so please specify this when booking. Onto the primi piatti! Expect luscious pasta cooked to the correct side of al dente. It seems to inhale the sauces that make use of the starch and premium stock in lieu of cream. All making for a far more palatable meal. And the sauce. The term does not do the flavours and texture justice. The melange of spices and components be they vegetarian or not, are sublime. Just a taste of the seafood pasta alone conveyed everything in one bite. Not to be outdone, their beverage selection is nothing short of brilliant. The chinotto brought back fond memories of Kinni cola. Sadly I did not have time to partake of dolce but will endeavour to do so next time.”

“11 icehockey players looking for somewhere good to eat entered & were greeted with open arms seating us all together & then took our drinks order. Whilst waiting for us to decide what we wanted they supplied us with several baskets of prawn crackers with dips & they were really tasty & not like a chippy. The food came out in baskets too with a choice of cutlery or chopsticks!. Overall the food was excellent the drinks flowed & the service was always there making sure we was being looked after & top marks excellent!. “Firstly I think it’s important to note this is a cafe that is connected to a family support centre and counselling service. It’s cheap and it is supposed to be somewhere accessible for people who access the services next door, as well as for anybody who uses the park. I actually came here not because of this but because I had attended a baby class in the adjoining room, so my friend and I had coffee and cake here. It’s a great little place, so cheap and the staff are friendly too. There’s a seating area outside as well for warmer days. It’s a lovely little cafe if you’ve had a walk in the park or want to meet a friend with your little ones. They also offer a range of food and I’ve-cream in summer, but we always went primarily for coffee and cake, both of which were always spot on. We used to go here every week after baby classes, and will continue to do so after Covid. This cafe definitely deserves our support so that it stays open in the future.”

Ample room in the car park, the cooked breakfast was made to order with no restrictions on quantities and the staff were beyond helpful, friendly and accommodating. Check-in is normally 3pm however I needed the room sooner due to a wedding and they were happy to accommodate us. Would stay again if i needed somewhere to rest after a night out.”

The point is, it's worth it. I considered removing a star for the staff being nothing like as knowledgeable as they should be for the standard of the establishment. But I decided that would be churlish. The service was good, it was friendly and it was quick. The atmosphere is relaxed and tranquil, just right for a quiet night out. The food, though, is what stands out. The two of us ordered different things over three courses and all six dishes were top quality. A bit different, beautifully presented and memorably delicious. “Lovely little place we stumbled across when walking down the canal. Fresh pizzas, the dough brought from the main kitchen in Sale but soon they will be making in house in Altrincham too. We got the margarita, vegetarian and parmesan mozerella pizza and it was probably some of the best pizza I have had around, reminds me of the pizza we had in Sorrento and Napoli. Not too heavy, but filling. The kids loved the pizza and we did too. Definitely coming back here regularly.”
