“I have been getting takeaway from here since moved to area a few years ago. Best Chinese in area. Always good customer service on phone and behind counter and food is always cooked on time. Meal deal is excellent value. We often get freebies! Really surprised by poor reviews on here, definitely not my experience at all.”

“Well what can I say about these two little old love birds eh? This couple have had this Chinese for what must be 40 year at least. I remember when the counter was on your left as you walked in and the pair of them don't seam to have changed a bit! He does good salt n pepper spare ribs and if you ask the old fella for something specific he'll give you his version. She's never been the best at English so for best results ask for the captain and I'm sure you won't be disappointed. I like a portion of dabs there. They're not to big and not to small and are a real treat. Hopefully this place will live on but I've never seen them with children? If this little Chinese relic ever comes to a close it will be the end of a oriental era. God bless them both.”

“The best Chinese restaurant in Manchester, the Star chef is a very good restaurant, the boss is also a very good Sichuan chef, single from the variety of dishes, the variety is very comprehensive. The Han Dynasty and The Star Chef are two completely different restaurant. The owner of the Star Chef rented the front of the Han Dynasty last year, but it also led many people to think that the Han Dynasty and the Star Chef were the same shop. It's totally ridiculous that these two stores are not at all comparable. In my opinion, Star Chef is definitely the best Chinese restaurant in Manchester. Although it is a new restaurant, the chefs here can make the best Chinese food in Manchester. Everyone has rich cooking experience. If you want to enjoy authentic Chinese food, star Chef is definitely the best choice. On top of that, if you show the star chef boss how much you like China, or if you make some great suggestions, the boss may give you some unexpected discounts. “How these guys have such a low star rating is beyond me?? First time we tried them was Christmas Eve and it did take longer than expected to arrive, but it was Christmas Eve so that's understandable. Food arrived hot and was really delicious, they are so different to the other Chinese takeaways and restaurants around and definitely have their own flavour (spicy salt and pepper seasoning, but this is honestly great if you like that moreish spice level). Second time there was one item missing from our order (nothing major, just seaweed, but my partner loves it) and when I called they said they would be unable to come out as they were rammed. About 10 minutes later there was a knock at the door and they had taken the time to drive out and deliver a single box of seaweed (very happy girlfriend). It would be easy to see little faults and give a low rating, but the reason I rate so highly is because they make every effort to give the best service they can and they are obviously popular and busy, its just a shame more people aren't coming on to give these guys a good rating. If you're not sure about these guys because of the rating I say try them and you'll be pleasantly surprised, if you don't like it then maybe consider its just not your style rather than putting a one star rating, they have great food and they really put the effort in!”

“Ordered here several times. Food was absolutely amazing. Went to pick up once and was unbelievable how busy they were. They had like 12 orders in on the rack. They tried getting the food out to me as fast as possible and the women gave me extra for a short wait. Would recommend to pick up as it's more fresh but delivery was really fast even though it was a Friday night. Would definitely come again”

“Is a nice place to dine in with your friends or family. Lot of different kind of food in Hong Kong style. You MUST try the snack called "sesame with prawn" and don't miss the drink called "Lemon iced tea". Don't miss out the dessert as well, fruity and IG-able. For sure, we will dine in again very soon!!!”

“Lovely restaurant and owners! We went here for the first time tonight on the spare of the moment and we weren't disappointed. Warm welcome on our arrival, table available in the bright and well appointed restaurant. Good menu choice options for meals and smaller plates and the owner took the time too talk us through options. The food was really tasty, well presented and quick to serve. Great service throughout and I will come back again and do recommend. The place has only been open for a few months so far but is already offering great food in a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. “Hidden Gem! Can’t express how amazing this place is! Really heart warming and wholesome food. You can definitely tell it’s cooked with tradition and love for their cuisine. Me and my friend ordered the fried chicken nasi lamek, kind prawn sambal, roti and chicken satay (the most tender and juicy chicken satay I’ve ever had in my life! Omfg) everything was unreal, cooked to perfection. We also got to chat with Aunty Lotus herself! Everything in this place really feels like your eating round your Malaysian / Asian aunties house! Highly recommend and will definitely be coming back.”

“Been here a few times now and it has been excellent every time. The food is delicious, some of the best veggie food I've ever had! Can even take meat eaters and they love it too. The staff are absolutely lovely and attentive but not overly so. When I brought my gran in a wheelchair one time they were so accommodating and nice. I recommend this place to everyone.”
