“Only my second visit which seems daft as this is a cracking pub and a mecca for real ale drinkers. It is only a few minutes walk over the Irwell into Salford. The beer selection did not disappoint. I had a lovely pint of Wigan Brewhouse Soul Train. Really friendly pub on a lovely little square.”

“What an unexpected surprise! Spontaneously went for dinner on Saturday evening. They found us a table in the upstairs area which was lovely. Food was delicious and the service was attentive and helpful. We returned to the downstairs bar for cocktails. All the little details made it a lovely place and we had a wonderful evening. “We had a fantastic meal at the Old Wellington, loved it! We booked a table on the day but they had plenty of space for dining. Our server, Tina, was fantastic, really attentive and cared that we had a great experience (she even double checked our beers were ok as we can some from the bottom of the barrel, replaced with no hesitation). The food (Ocean fish and chips, burger, fish platter and landlords platter) were all fantastic - really good value for a fantastic time. Highly recommend!”

“Very nice place to have a few drinks and some delicious pub food reasonably priced. The Botanist is beautifully decorated, the cocktails and selection of drinks is is impressive. I really enjoyed my halloumi hanging kebab and sweet chili fries. The staff is very approachable and attentive. Special thanks to our waiter Sam who kindly made sure that we were happy and well attended at all times. Will go back :)”

“Great pub, I traveled from America, had a long train ride to my hotel and the Sawyer’s Arms was my first stop in England. What an experience: it’s a beautiful old school pub in the middle of Deansgate, with very reasonable prices, good food and pint selection and the staff was very courteous, knowledgeable, and helpful. I ended up returning several times during my stay and I look forward to doing the same when I return to Manchester.”

“Marble Brewery are one of the best brewers around in my view. Their new tap has hit the ground running. On my visit, there was Pint on cask, in addition to 9 varied keg offerings and a full fridge. Great use of the space given its purpose and a place I'll return to.”

“We stayed at City Suites and never normally use the hotel restaurant…I am so glad we did this time! Really lovely food with exceptional service from Veronica. All of the staff were very pleasant and the food was faultless. The staff even bought out a birthday cocktail for my birthday which was a really lovely and personal touch. “We had alovely meal today. The staff were all friendly and helpful. The pub was lovely and clean. We didn't wait long for are food. 2 of us had fish and chips which were very nice. 1 mushroom pie which also very tasty. And chicken new yorker. We all had cheesecake which just finished off our meal. Will be visiting again soon.”

“Stayed overnight to see Peter Kay. Lovely hotel, large room with a very comfy bed. Huge television. Couldn't beat the price either. Didn't use the pub/restaurant but it looked great and lively. Amazing location and easy to get to from the train station. Will definitely stay again.”
