Liberation Farms promotes food justice by offering fresh, chemical-free produce to combat food insecurity and enhance the economic, social, and cultural vibrancy of Lewiston, ME. The program supports Somali Bantu Family Farmers by providing land, seeds, training, technical assistance, and marketing opportunities. Farmers receive 1/10 of an acre to grow food for themselves and their families, with the option to self-organize into Iskashito groups for cooperative growing. Liberation Farms distributes high-quality vegetables, including specialty and rare varieties, at farmers markets and farm stands.
