“I attended Southborough Lane primary school in 1962 and 1963. We lived across the street- attached is a photo of my sister and I running to school in 1962. I have such wonderful memories of my time there. The teachers were kind and supportive. They instilled values of sharing and politeness I have never forgotten. There was a tree on the grounds, beneath which we children used to form a circle, hold hands and sing traditional songs. It was so all different when we moved to Canada- the only songs sung were from television shows (a luxury we didn't have in England) and politeness was ridiculed by my fellow students. I'm certain things have changed at Southborough Lane since, but I will always retain the memory of my idyllic childhood in England.”
