“We had a fantastic stay. We used it as a base to visit the Harry Potter studio tour which was only a ten minute drive away. The hotel was beautiful and clean and staff very helpful. The room was kitted out with a little fridge so my youngest could have her yoghurt in the morning. Breakfast staff very accommodating to my 2 excited children and because it was my sons birthday we even got an extra treat in our room and a birthday card for him which made his day. Short walk to town centre and Watford train station so will come again for London trip next year!”

“Simon Mole gave my daughter the best birthday party an 11 year old could have hoped for. He arrived promptly before the party and was set up and ready before the guests arrived. He had lots of lights and a smoke machine. Before the party, he had collected a wish list of songs from my daughter and her friends, so throughout the party, Simon played the songs they knew and loved. During the songs he played games e.g. you can dance only one leg for this song, only dance in slow motion etc… which was genius as all the children stayed focused on the party and dancing. Simon broke the dancing up with a bit of Karaoke, which was a big hit. If you’re looking for a DJ for a children’s party look no further than DJ Mole. As a primary school teacher, he knows just how to keep the children focused and engaged. I can’t recommend him enough! Shelley, Sandridge, St Albans”

“Fantastic food, excellent and prompt service, polite staff and at a reasonable price. This is a great restraunt, and I highly encourage you to go. They were also very understanding of dietary restrictions, and made an excellent vegan pizza for me. The place is certainly child friendly, has what looks like easy access for wheelchairs, and a couple of parking spots outside, though they're not reserved for customers. My only complaint is that I like my pizzas a little more crisp, but I'm sure they would have obliged if I had only told them that.”

“Lived across the road for 30+ years and it's been my local. You just don't get pubs like this anymore , old school. Pam is in charge and everyone is welcome , tiny pub but great atmosphere.”

“Bocketts farm is a lovely day out for family especially with younger kids. I've been many times over the years particularly because it is one of the farms where you can get closer to the animals to feed them, rather than using those feeding tubes, which I know are safer but are less fun. There are lots of added activities for kids to enjoy such as the crafts corner, soft play and jungle gym, a big tractor and toy car area, bouncy castle, trampolines, go carts, sand pit, park and a bubble disco. They also still do the pig race which is great fun for everyone. We ate in the restaurant in the main entrance. I really enjoyed their mars bar cake. My friends had the ham and cheese toasties which also looked nice and juicy.”

“Absolutely love Coworth Park. Wanted to book a week there for all the family over Christmas but sadly they don't accept dogs, we have just got a new Puppy. It would have been lovely to have stayed. Maybe they should re-consider accepting well behaved dogs :)”

Karaoke with Ben until just before midnight, pub packed with good mix of people in their twenties up to middle ages(!) and everyone had a great time. Manager Nigel and his bevy of incredibly attractive barmaids did a great job. Recommended.”

“We had our wedding at Hartsfield Manor and honestly couldn’t recommend them highly enough! From the first meeting to view the venue, they made us feel so special and went above and beyond in everything, making sure the day was so personal to us, the wedding coordinators are so organised and on it throughout the planning process and were brilliant on the day! Everyone who stayed said it felt like such a friendly place. The house and the grounds are beautiful and we couldn’t have hoped for a better day - highly highly recommended!!!”

“The Sunday roast is fabulous. I had the veggie option and my partner had roast beef. Both were ample portions and very, very tasty. Staff can’t do enough for you and Lauren the manager is so welcoming and makes everyone feel like a regular. It’s a great example of a traditional pub.”

“I have visited the pub a handful of times now and loved it every time. Food is 10/10 and their Sunday roasts are to die for! Staff is always super friendly and there’s a good atmosphere and feel to the place. Haven’t stayed overnight but I am very tempted to.”

“- Amazing building and grounds. I was expecting it to be a tad run down given it’s an historic building but it really is in immaculate condition and we’ll decorated with a lot of character. Love the big room with chandelier and fireplace. - Food was all amazing. We had 3 course dinner & breakfast included in our stay, which was great value. If you were paying a la carte prices it’s a tad expensive, but everything we ate was superb. Upgraded to scallops and a steak one night that was as good as I’ve had! - We paid for the wet room spa which was brilliant. It’s £28pp but it’s small and you’re not in there with loads of other people. However, the hotel itself has a small sauna and steam room that’s free but isn’t well advertised. - lots of functions going on but we really couldn’t tell which is really impressive! Minor points for improvement: - We we’re told by the front desk that the walks around the grounds were open but they weren’t. - Some people at breakfast weren’t aware you can order things off a menu as well as the buffet. We ordered waffles one morning that took over 30 min and a bacon roll was forgotten - One of the pillows in the room was a bit old and yellowed under the protective cover, and the ceiling light was repaired with tape Overall a great stay and we’ll definitely recommend to friends!”

The whole experience felt deeply nostalgic, from the chutneys arriving in steel serving bowls with crisp poppadums, linen napkins shaped like bishop's hats, and mint chocolates brought with the bill at the end. The owner and staff were attentive and professional and made us feel right at home. I'm delighted that we found a solid Indian restaurant near us and can't wait to go back.”

“We booked a meal for 40 of us after getting married in Leatherhead earlier that day. We could not have had a better time or service from the team at the Penny Black - the communication with the manager ahead of time was helpful and quick, we were able to drop cakes and decorations etc off in the morning and the pre-ordered drinks were ready for our arrival. The team on that day were friendly and available for whatever we needed. HUGE thank you to the kitchen team who managed to get out 40 pre-ordered meals at the same time and all hot. This is not just your average pub - 5* 10/10 recommendation. The manager on shift that day said they didn't really do bigger groups or weddings that often but if you are reading this and looking to book a party or bigger group event in Leatherhead - Penny Black is where you need to go.”
