“First time visit was the first day of business! Very beautiful shop with a large variety of japanese grocery and sushi. There are so many options when it comes to sushi and sashimi.. some are not even available in high end restaurants! Definitely will visit again!”

“Very good sushi in elegant, yet cosy, settings. The tuna tartare presentation and balance of flavours were up to the level of a Michelin star restaurant and the maki were flavoursome and fresh. We were really impressed by the homemade ice-cream with a selection of unusual flavours including miso and sesame. The staff is extremely welcoming, offering exceptional customer service. “Now if you like Sushi, this is where you have to go if your in the area. Small little place hidden around the corner from the castle, doesn’t seem big from the outside but as you head upstairs you find a cosy little restaurant buzzing with a relaxed vibe. The menu selection is impeccable and I can honestly say, this is the best Sushi I have had in a very, I mean very long time. Generous portions, super fresh, very tasty and brilliant staff. They do takeout too, but I prefer to eat in!”

“I am still wondering how is possible that komakai can deliver such an outstanding quality being a take away sushi business. Yes, you read correctly. We all know that sushi is not cheap. We also know that it is pretty hard to find a trustable sushi bar/restaurant. In London or where ever... I know about fish quality because my parents are fishmongers in Barcelona (enough said). And when you think your found one pretty acceptable then the bill arrives to the table and the price do not match with the quality delivered. That has been my main surprise with komakai. If you had this sushi served in a restaurant, the bill will be over £200 for 2 people’s dinner. Yes, £200! Please don’t take my advice for granted. Give it a go and you will be as pleasantly surprised as me. If you are lucky enough to live in south east London (or making a big enough order and further delivery can be considered) try Komakai. Check the pics in Instagram (komakaisushilondon) they speak by them self. Check my pics taken at home. Even my cat (Neo) realised about it! Bon appetite!!”

“I was excited about this new Japanese restaurant that they open just yesterday. I went there today and I would definitely come back again. Staff are very friendly and my meal was really lovely (love the Unagi Don yum)! It does give me nostalgic memories of my trip to Japan in the past. I would recommend to give Bento Boys a try. “I had to leave a review because when I say this is the best sushi my partner and I have ever had and think will probably ever have it isn’t an understatement. We have compared every place we have had sushi at since and nothing ever even compares to the standard of sushi here. Yes, it’s a bit pricier but it is well worth it for just how good it is. Cannot fault the service and hospitality of staff, lovely cute little restaurant just be sure to book on weekends because it does get busy☺️”

“Delicious food. Reasonable cost. We got donburi salmon teriyaki and veg curry. Reasonable portions. From the pictures I thought the crockery might be in plastic containers but the food was served in very tasteful japanese ceramics which makes a difference to me to the dining experience. Very delightful pretty surroundings. We were the only ones there, seems like leytonstone is pretty quiet for dining. They are not properly appreciated here! In central London I'm sure they'd be packed. We were there from 6.30-7.30pm or so. There were 2 deliveries collected whilst we were there and 1 guy who came for a take away. Seems more popular for take aways which is a shame as it's a lovely looking restaurant.”

“Customer service is excellent. There was a lovely lady working there! I ordered an iced matcha latte and jasmine tea. The matcha latte was not sickly sweet and it was just right like the Japanese way. One lady even gave me a free complimentary biscuit. If you are fan of japanese drinks I would HIGHLY recommend. It might not look like much from the outside but there's a reason why this place is packed from the moment it opens. Fantastic food, friendly helpful staff and unbelievable value for money. Every single dish we ordered (sashimi, sushi, tempura, miso) was full of flavour and freshly prepared. I can't recommend this place highly enough.”

“Had a lunchtime hankering for Korean. I've passed this restaurant many times and thought that it was a sushi restaurant. Anyway the portions are huge easily satisfy two people per serving. Service was friendly and fast but dishes came out of sequence i.e. the main came first, followed by the starter and lastly the rice for the main arrived. The food was hot and the meat dishes were sizzling. The price was a little pricey but the experience was worth it. Looking forward to those Japanese fried oysters next visit.”

The portion of the rice is perfect but hope neta could go a bit thicker even if they have to raise the price (Still very good) gyudong and chicken teriyaki are good too, especially chicken teriyaki is highly recommended if you want hot meals. - tender, soft and the chicken soaked up the sauce pretty well. Loooved it. Gonna try everything there!”

“First visit today, not busy as it was near closing time. We had the Two Pork Tonkotsu and Chicken Paitan. Staff were all friendly, nice and helpful. Pleasant atmosphere. The Udon is absolutely delicious and freshly made. We didn't have to add any condiments as the flavour were perfect for us. Truly enjoyable. We will definitely be back to try other dishes.”
