“Wonderful service, prompt with a smile, and really nice options on the menu. We ended up here somewhat by accident after the Grufalo trial and booked a table purely based on reviews. Although it was about 15 minutes away I'd say it was worth the drive. We had the double stacked friend chicken burger, pear and walnut salad, ribs for starter and the meringue which was a perfect summer dessert. Good vegetarian options as well. They cater well for outside bookings and are also well setup post Covid. Lovely pub, lovely people in a lovely area.”

“Lovely pub restaurant. Cosy bar at the front with fires to make it extra cosy. We went to the rear dining room with views of the garden, and it was delightful the watching the birds, the squirrels and the fallow deer visiting the garden. Nice choice of traditional British favourites. I had beef and Guinness pudding which was tasty and also light, perfect. Very friendly and helpful staff.”

“Really good cosy and friendly atmosphere in the restaurant or public bar, which is situated on the left as you enter. I highly recommend their Sunday roast options, including the 3 meat offering. Overall, a little gem of a place just opposite Shenfield High School.”

“The Drill opened its doors again today and I just popped over for a couple of drinks and a meal, both of which were excellent! I can't wait to sample the whole menu in the future. The new and old staff were super friendly and the manager Wayne was very welcoming and was clearly running a well oiled machine. Their social distancing measures seemed to be working well and it felt like a safe environment to relax in. Being a pub garden fan though I was most impressed with their refurbished garden - outstanding! See you again soon!”

“Best Sunday roast! I came a couple weeks ago and I’m back again today on Boxing Day. The atmosphere is great, staff are welcoming. It’s cozy here.. honestly love it. I also want to mention that I a vegetarian and the roast at this pub was absolutely delicious! 10 out of 10!!”

“Only popped in for a drink and to feed the child. Honestly the quality of the children's dinner has definitely made this a place I'm coming back too. It's a propa old pub with some characters in there. Staff were so friendly (a special thanks to the lady that booked my daughter under 'princess') Really warm welcoming and friendly pub plus the food was excellent. “Had a fantastic brunch here Highly Recommended!! The staff were welcoming and happy to help despite a very busy and chaotic service, they made you feel nothing was too much trouble. Although ridiculously busy all the staff were more than happy to accommodate our endless drink requests. The food was to a high standard, I would be happy bring my boss, my mum, or my friends here.
