Personally I wanted to work with a clinical Dr because I was not sure what support I needed, so wanted to ensure I worked with someone who was well versed in a range of therapies and had lots of experience in putting them into practice. If you are seeking help for any range of therapies, they are certainly worth contacting, as within my case they were very effective at getting the results I was after. A huge part of this is down to the Dr I was paired with understanding me and my needs and us having a good rapport. You will get what you are after more if you can relate to and trust who you are working with, rather than just being given a treatment, and not believing in it, so being paired with the best Dr for my situation was really beneficial for me. In terms of what to expect, private therapy is not a cheap endeavour wherever you go, and it generally takes several weeks to have a worthwhile effect. For me the important thing was that I got better, but it’s worth asking up front around costs / sessions required. There is also normally a small wait time as well if you are after certain time slots so maybe take that into consideration. Personally, I went through my private health care provider as it brought the cost down significantly for me, and I found the NHS wait times are often closer to 4 - 6 months, with a limit on the max number of sessions. Speak to them, ask questions, and work out what’s best for you. For me, the service was great, and I got the results I was after, but never expect these things to be a magic bullet - be patient and work hard.”
