“I visited Sly's Barber shop this morning. Polite friendly service from Sly & Bishop who were working when I was there, you can get a cup of tea around the corner and wait on the alfresco seats outside the barbers. It's a no frills neighbourhood barber's (situated within Crisp Street Market) specialising in all types of hair. Afro, European and Asian. There's a democratic numbered ticket queue system, you get your ticket and wait. It can be sometime because they are popular and busy, especially at the start of the school term. Prices are pretty reasonable £12 (2019 August). If you are in a rush you can book a time slot in advance for £25. If you want to jump the queue the tax is £40. They open at 730am (arrange in advance) and for the early morning slots there's a £5 surcharge. Not bad if you want a shape up before leaving for the city.”
