“Update........ Tryed the fish Friday menu tonight and was delicious, plus you can still order from the bistro menu so plenty of choices including whole lobster and surf and turf. There's a pre book Christmas menu available for the 1st-23rd of December which looks excellent value for money, small deposit required. Great building with plenty of history. Booked bistro for a Sunday roast dinner. Foods good, does get very busy especially for Sunday lunches. Nice bistro and courtyard. Staff amazing! Professional, polite and attentive. Will definitely revisit and try the fish menu available on Friday's. Very limited parking.”

“This place is amazing! Can’t believe there is a pub which serves Thai food. Apparently they also serve Japanese food but I went with Thai food instead. The portion was generous on my Tom yam and pad Thai. It’s definitely well presented. Tom yam may not be the best soury spicy taste but good enough to give a kick to my mouth. The location is amazing right opposite the train station. Definitely would recommend people to come here if you would like some Asian Thai or Japanese food.”

“We’ve been coming to Haywards for almost ten years now and despite many changes to staff in the kitchen and front of house the standards have never dropped. Under the guidance of owners Amanda and Jahdre they have still manage to produce amazing food with friendly and professional service. Our latest visit was Saturday lunchtime where on arrival we received a lovely welcome from Amanda before she escorted us to our customary table 10. After a little catch up she told us that Jahdre had created for us a special menu that would showcase all the new dishes on the menu. This was a fabulous gesture and one we gladly accepted. We started with homemade Granary Sourdough bread and a selection of snacks including a cauliflower cheese veloute , harissa arancini , goat’s cheese and tomato canneloni. This led us to out first course a Chicken and Ham Hock Terrine with celeriac remoulade , toasted brioche and a homemade piccalilli. This was followed by the Fillet of Pollock with a crab bisque , hispi cabbage. and parsnips. Both dishes were an absolute delight and the flavours complimented each other perfectly. Amanda paired the courses with a Framingham 2021 Riesling from New Zealand. We now moved onto the main course which was a heavenly and rich Braised Pork Cheek with a white bean cassoulet and gremolata topped with a piece of pork crackling. This was paired with a Grand Garant 2020 Fleurie from France. We decided to follow this with a Cheese Course. We then finished with dessert which was a Chocolate Mousse with mascarpone sorbet , coffee cremaux and lime gel a twist on a tiramisu. The pairing for this dessert was a beautiful Australian Muscat from the Rosewood Vineyards that tasted like a light pedro ximinez. Apparently we wasn’t finished there as chef Jahdre sent out an Orange Soufflé with grand marnier caramel and cinnamon ice cream. This was a delight and the flavour combinations worked perfectly together. A coffee and petit fours brought to an end another fabulous dining experience at Haywards with fantastic food , perfect wine pairings and great service. If i ever needed another reason why i think this is the best restaurant in Essex then today’s visit did everything to enhance that. Looking forward to many more visits this year which will at some point include our 150th. Thank You Amanda and Jahdre for a fantastic lunch and look forward to seeing you again soon.”

“I went for some food while waiting for someone to be seen at the hospital. The staff stayed open later than normal for me to eat in. I had the chicken escallop and bacon sandwich and it was one of the best sandwiches I've ever had! Amazing place.”

“A quaint bistro hidden amongst stables, not the easiest of places to get to on foot, the driveway up is riddled with potholes and uneven if you are disabled so be careful, but there is a ramp descent after entering the cafe which is good. The cafe is really tastefully furnished, very mid-western, the breakfast was an enormous plate of food cooked extremely well. Good italian menu offerings. We will be back in the future the host was very welcoming.”

“I took two friends visiting London for lunch and we loved it! The food is super authentic, and the waitress who served us was not only nice but also very funny! The prawn ceviche was spectacular although very spicy! The noddles and sweetcorn fritters are a must on your order if you go. Highly recommended!”

“Cute and cosy coffee shop serving Grind coffee and delicious cakes. Breakfast and brunch style dishes include sourdough bread / toast with toppings - scrambled eggs, smashed avocado, goats cheese with walnuts and honey - simple food but tasty. Nice place to hang out during the week if you want to take your lap top and be with other people - but do buy food while you are there. No lap tops at weekend though (and quite right too, have a rest!). They have tables outside. Inside the decor is bare brick walls and wooden floor boards. The owners have decorated the space with vintage bits and pieces.”

“Great little place. Have been quite a few times and always great. Breakfast is delicious - not quite 100% on the eggs but that is personal preference. We went with our son recently and they were very accommodating with a high chair. I would recommend caution taking a pram because the place is small and if it is busy - as it often is - it can be awkward managing that BUT it is busy because of how nice it is.”
