Charcoal Edgware
● Closed“Mmmm shashlik! Tender, spicy but not hot spicy......make your mouth water spicy. Charcoal chicken wings. Not the skinny flappy bit but,the shoulder and bicep. A tiny sprinkle of fresh lemon juice drizzled into the munchable, tender chicken. The starter dip things.... FANTASTIC Turkish naan. Light and fluffy with a good outside crunch, dipped into fresh proper humus. A garlicy yoghurt dip thing. Grilled onion quarters in a pomegranate sauce. A fresh and tangy salad with tomatoes, cos lettuce, cucumber, onion. Often Turkish salads that I've had have just been sprinkled with vinegar which, can make them slightly bland. Not so Charcoal's salad dressing. Imagine a charcoaled meat selection served on a bed of rice with a chips border and a sort of thin, round flatbread covering to keep the aroma and heat contained. Lamb shish in very small, succulent cubes on wooden skewers. The charcoal chicken wings, shashlik, thin strips of doner.thick, tender lamb chunks. Add a glass of Turkish red wine (or three). Maybe some Turkish tea with something sweet for those of us who like the slightest perspiration invoked by overeating. Yes, they do takeaway. Yes they have all sorts of fizzy drinks. But, they are not your usual Turkish takeaway. This place is well worth a sit-down for an hour or so and serious, professional eating. Opposite Lidl so maybe, if you do some shopping in Lidl - you could park there. Personally, I think it's worth taking the Northern line and walking from Edgware statation. A couple of outside tables for those that need a quick cigarette or an afternoon cup of coffee and a baklava. I was introduced by a friend who is Turkish and himself a retired restaurateur. In the 20 plus years I have known him - he has always steered me to places that are good quality and not overpriced. This isn't a place with fancy carpets and bow tie waiters. It's like a mum n dad place who care and concentrate on flavour.”

Melissa Restaurant (Edgware)
● Closed“This is more like a smart cafe than a formal restaurant with a family friendly ambience. When we were here, there were plenty of people with children around (Saturday 530pm). We got a max platter, which was always going to be more food than we needed for two adults and two children but would be perfect for four adults. The meats were excellent and we went for rice instead of chips which was good as an extra. Definitely very good value for money and the quality of the food is as good as many of the more upmarket Turkish restaurants in nearby areas.”

The place is just beautiful inside and the staff are so attentive. The food is beautifully prepared and is well presented Service was quick, and it's one of the best meals that we have had out this year! If we lived in London this would be our go to place! Flavours Restaurant & Cocktail Bar
● Closed218 Burnt Oak Broadway, Burnt Oak, Edgware HA8 0AP, United Kingdom“A very vibrant place. I was there on a Saturday evening. They offered me a bigger table as it was quite crowded, with the agreement that I will leave in an hour or so, agreeable given the time I had visited. Even through the crowd the people kept checking in if everything was okay and if I needed anything. Chicken 65 (Saucy) was really good. Although the Chicken Tikka was a bit different from my expectations, but it was good. Personally for me it did not suit. Good music, excellent staff and very good service. Will visit again soon to try out their other dishes. Thank you Flavours.”

We are always made to feel so welcome and it’s so lovely when staff remember who you are, as my Grandad is in a wheelchair and requires extra assistance. Little things like this really mean a lot. Mascalzone
● Closed“My local Italian restaurant, the food is always spot on, can't fault it, always tasty and nice portions. Can walk in, but I suggest at busier times it better to book. Never been let down here, the good is consistently good. I always dine in, so can't comment on the takeaway. Plenty of free parking at the Sainsbury just behind, a few minutes walk. Awesome”

Gogi
● Closed“This place is my favorite choice for BBQ platter. It isnt smokey and this will not make you smell. The quality of the meat was superb esp the beef. Japchae was good but not exceptionally good. I tasted better ones than this. Seafood bibimbap was very tasty so as the beef. Not quite sure with the chicken. The desserts are nice. It was worth a try at least once. Over-all, the side presentation was lovely, it has good variety and flavor. It is a bit pricey though but real good! Oh, drinks and costumer service were exceptional!”

Struggled to work out what we wanted for dinner take out tonight as fridge I'd empty ahead for weekly supermarket delivery tomorrow and my partner said I would kebab style meal so I said mentioned a place in Edgware but I couldn't get the spelling right for the delivery app and remember you have recently refurbished and opened again so I said how about here and Wow, the chicken/lamb shish kebabs with rice and a little bit of salad was more than enough. Sugar & Spice Lounge
● Closed“My friend was raving about this place. Apparently there is a group on social media rating various eateries. This was one place to check out based on the group. I don't use social media so was curious. We dined during a Saturday evening. No booking but was seated out back , which looks like a big extension which is impressive in many ways. All built around a large oak-tree. Impressive. Front of house was extremely polite and welcoming. The member of staff was super polite and helpful with our menu selections and orders for beverages. Adding help and assistance along the way. I opted for a mocktail which was delicious and my dining guest had a milkshake which looked very nice. We chose starters which including chicken tikka and masala chips. Both were full of flavour and spice. In hindsight we should have shared our mains and naan to follow as the portion sizes for the mains were huge! My main was good. Full of chicken to the brim! I can't remember was my friend had but this looked and smelt amazing. My garlic naan was nice. This is my go to along with chicken tikka masala. We even took sight of chef with a yellow hat, looked the part. All things considered with price, service and quality you need to check this place out. Very recommended. Even the host looks like a magician in his red coat, a class act.”

Bella
● Open24-26 Watling Avenue, Burnt Oak, Edgware HA8 0LR, United Kingdom“Food that tastes real ! I love exploring new cuisines and came across this gem. The management was kind enough to make me a portion consisting a variety of items. I really loved everything. The chicken with cream of mushroom was so tender, the pork & sausage strew had so much texture to it, the cabbage and meat rolls were so fresh and soft. I was loving the food so much that the management made me try small portions of the soups mainly, sour chicken soup, tripe soup, beef soup and vegetable soup. They were all yummy and the ingredients tasted so fresh. I was even made to try the cheese doughnut with cranberry sauce , which also was amazing. I will be visiting often.”
