“Went for mother's day steak with in-laws. We were last guests to arrive that night. Excellent rib eye with good sides. And very good desserts. I must also commend the service which was very good and accomodating despite us arriving 45 mins before close of kitchen. I might just come again. Thanks!”

“Great food. Nice people. They will cook for you fresh, and in a live barbeque oven with a coal fire. This gives the kebab a distinct pleasing aroma. Service is also very friendly. Downside: only cash payment is accepted. You can order online, but the online price might be a bit higher than the in-shop price.”

“Absolutely fantastic food and even better hospitality. As soon as we entered we felt welcome. We had a jug of passion fruit juice which was nice, if a bit sweet. For starters we had the nundu and the mogo. The mogo had a nice flavour and was a good consistency. The nundu was absolutely fantastic and I really recommend it. Traditionally it's just beef fat, however, as the server explained, you can't serve grilled fat on its own in the UK, so it had beef with it. It was so full of flavour and seasoned perfectly. For mains we had sukama wiki with ugali and charsi lamb curry with naan. The sukama had a lovely flavour and went well with the ugali. I tried the curry with the ugali and it didn't go as well. The curry was spicy but really rich. We had some karak chai to finish the meal and packed up everything we didn't eat. Our server was great - very friendly and knowledgeable - and I got the feel from the restaurant that they love serving people and making people happy with their food.”

“Having a little shop in Chelsea means we get to be right next too, and to sometimes try a few exclusive or fancier restaurants which of course is lovely, but too indicate just how good this place is we both hands down prefer coming to Shemuls on the night before we go away on holiday or at the end of a busy month. Their food is unbelievably delicious and the simple stripped back decor means you get to focus most on what you came for - beautiful food and a nice chilled conversation. 100% the Goan fish curry for the win, it’s so good”

“Picked up an order last night. Even on takeout the staff were extremely attentive. THE PORTIONS ARE HUGE. Ordered a massala and rice and honestly it's probably going to be my next three meals. “The Gate is a really good place to visit. We had dinner they on a Saturday night. We had booked in advance, so a table has been reserved for us. The menu is really good, with a really good variety to choose from, including a separate vegan/vegetarian menu. The staff are really friendly and helpful and the menu gives really good variety for money, including the drinks menu. We started with the vegetarian chili nachos which were delicious and made a really nice change from the traditional meat version. We will definitely go back again.”

“We have been a couple of times specifically to eat pizza there (we have visited that cafe in general many times) and I highly recommend it! The pizza is absolutely delicious!! We had the margherita, the pepperoni pizza, the vegeratian pizza and all were simply scrumptious! The pizzas are NOT oily, fully of flavour, freshly made to order using very fresh ingredients. They have lovely outdoor seating at the back which has 3 bench type tables and some two seater tables. Really cosy and nice there. The staff are friendly and always at hand to help. :)”
