“The food is delicious, the staff really friendly and seem genuinely happy to help. Great value for money. We've been 3 times recently and enjoyed it every time. My only gripe is other diners talking really loudly over each other which makes for a loud dining experience but you can't blame the restaurant for this!”

“I have been coming here 3 or 4 times a week since it opened in 2017 and the coffee is absolutely perfect. Service is exceptional and they never miss a beat, even at busy times. I have been a regular at this cafe, through a couple of previous incarnations, since the late 90's when it was also exceptional. I'm very pleased that the current team continue to provide such an excellent service - day in day out. Keep up the great work!”

“For those who want that poorly lit, comfortable, homey bar feeling. This is it. Doesn’t try to be sophisticated and doesn’t need to be. Just a relaxing atmosphere with a solid drink selection and quality made bar food.”

“I ordered 2 small cods, 2 small chips, a jumbo sausage and mushy peas. Came to just under £20 and were big portions. Very good quality. The man behind the counter asked me if I wouldnt mind waiting 5 minutes so they could fry me 2 fresh cods and gave the kids fortune cookies while we waited. They currently only accept cash. Me and the kids couldn't eat it all. Highly recommended!!!”

“We were here for a school reunion. However I am still a local and this place is great. The bar is excellent too and great coffee and food. I give it full stars mainly due to service, location, cleanliness and value for money and amenities even for the large functions. I do feel that the place could one day - under the right ownership - be totally transformed inside but then of course, price goes up. So I say full stars for full all rounder for value”

“Ordered take away Fish and Chips, the fish was really tasty, white in colour with crisby batter. I would recommend trying Shelbys, look forward to the restaurant opening once we get through lockdown.”
