“NCAD is a wonderful dance and musical theatre school run by Sarah Jackson. My daughter had tremendous fun during her time at NCAD, especially starring in their shows! Sarah manages to get the balance between laid back and encouraging ambition. Children who just want to have fun are welcome here and there are great opportunities for those who wish to take their performing arts seriously. You can take your dance G.C.S.E. and several NCAD protégées have gone on to star in West End shows. Class prices are very reasonable to so all in all this is a great place for your child to come to explore the performing arts and grow into a talented and successful professional if that's what they want to do.”

“Luanda is a fantastic teacher and is so knowledgeable about Cuban dance. Her classes have structure and she breaks down all the moves so that beginners like me can easily follow and make great progress whilst the more advanced students can work on the finer detail, add flavour and do harder variations. She's very friendly and welcoming and has often made me feel better when I'm having a bad day! The live music she often has elevates the classes even more! (pre COVID of course!). “I have started Gypsy dancing last September and i love it. Such a beautiful, colourful and joyful dance that gives the opportunity to truly express oneself. Saeeda provides great classes and teaching, and is always happy to share her knowldege, and to help her students to improve their technique and expression. The classes are very welcoming, with great atmosphere between students. The levels are mixed, that is great to review basics as well as progress quickly. Highly recommended to any student (M/F) new to dancing or trained dancer who wants to learn a new style and challenge him/herself, and above all share the joy of dancing :)”

I am completely out of shape - but Josie was incredibly kind and helpful to get me started. There needs to be more instructors as warm as she is - makes everything so much easier. The dance studio is not pretentious and feels very much like “home”.”

They have yearly shows at Questors theatre for the dancers to showcase their talents, my daughter competes all over the country in competitions with them, the pastoral care is second to none, especially after lockdown when they secured free counselling for their teens. “SLDS is a wonderful dance school! We enrolled our daughter when she was 5 and there she stayed until now, at the age of 18 (it was at a different venue then, under a different name). She experienced all genres that were offered and excelled at most. She took part in several of their shows and presentation of class work; as well as competing in some dance festivals, where she won several medals. She wasn't the most outgoing child but these experiences helped her mature into a determined young woman who is responsible and disciplined. It also gave her a life long love of exercise! Through the 13 years she was there she made friends and had a fantastic time. She counts present and past teachers as her friends as well. After a period of indecision she decided against pursuing a career in dance, but we are sure she will carry on dancing wherever life takes her. When researching universities, dance was always a consideration. And talking universities, the several advanced level exam certificates she holds now add extra UCAS points for her applications. I highly recommend SLDS to anyone who would wish to introduce their child to dance. Thank you to all the teachers and to Miss Zoe for their amazing dedication. C&J”

“When my 9 year old started nursery at 18 months she had really bad attachment issues. The nursery suggested at that as soon as she was old enough I needed to put her into a drama/theatre school, to boost her confidence. When she turned 3 we put her into Jigsaw. We picked Jigsaw as the nursery said, this was a good choice and Jigsaw was cheaper than their key competitor, but I was told they were better, especially with regards to pastoral care. For me the primary advantage was I got 60 minutes to whizz round doing chores, with no-one hanging on to skirt, secondary to that was she spent an hour singing, dancing and acting which she loved. She has now been doing this for 6 years, she is queen of karaoke, reads at church, is confident both off and on the stage, and now I get 3 hours on a Saturday to work. For me it is win-win all round. My daughter asked us some time ago if she could go to boarding school once she turned 11. As difficult as this was, we agreed that we would do whatever was best for her. Just the other day she came to us and said, “if I go to a boarding school I will miss Jigsaw, can I stay at home”.. I took a deep breath and said, we will stand by you and do whatever is best for you darling. With eyes up cast, I said, thank you Jigsaw. You have done so much for us over the years, roll on Jigsaw till my little one turns 17.”
