Comfortable cafe in Edgware

“Mmmm shashlik! Tender, spicy but not hot spicy......make your mouth water spicy. Charcoal chicken wings. Not the skinny flappy bit but,the shoulder and bicep. A tiny sprinkle of fresh lemon juice drizzled into the munchable, tender chicken. The starter dip things.... FANTASTIC Turkish naan. Light and fluffy with a good outside crunch, dipped into fresh proper humus. A garlicy yoghurt dip thing. Grilled onion quarters in a pomegranate sauce. A fresh and tangy salad with tomatoes, cos lettuce, cucumber, onion. Often Turkish salads that I've had have just been sprinkled with vinegar which, can make them slightly bland. Not so Charcoal's salad dressing. Imagine a charcoaled meat selection served on a bed of rice with a chips border and a sort of thin, round flatbread covering to keep the aroma and heat contained. Lamb shish in very small,succulent cubes on wooden skewers. The charcoal chicken wings, shashlik, thin strips of doner.thick, tender lamb chunks. Add a glass of Turkish red wine (or three). Maybe some Turkish tea with something sweet for those of us who like the slightest perspiration invoked by overeating. Yes, they do takeaway. Yes they have all sorts of fizzy drinks. But, they are not your usual Turkish takeaway. This place is well worth a sit-down for an hour or so and serious, professional eating. Opposite Lidl so maybe, if you do some shopping in Lidl - you could park there. Personally, I think it's worth taking the Northern line and walking from Edgware statation. A couple of outside tables for those that need a quick cigarette or an afternoon cup of coffee and a baklava. I was introduced by a friend who is Turkish and himself a retired restaurateur. In the 20 plus years I have known him - he has always steered me to places that are good quality and not overpriced. This isn't a place with fancy carpets and bow tie waiters. It's like a mum n dad place who care and concentrate on flavour.”

“A very authentic hk style restaurant! The 燒味飯is really nice! Especially the 燒鵝髀, just add 50p to change into the leg part, a very fair deal! 叉燒is a bit too dry and hard but acceptable, just can’t get 半肥瘦叉燒in uk anyway. The milk tea is very nice, the 紅豆冰is fine. Their bakery and pastry are also nice and fair price, much cheaper than China town.”

“Called up the cafe to ask if I could change something on the deliveroo sharing platter for 2, no trouble at all and the lady on the phone was polite (the most polite I’ve ever spoken too from a cafe) changing was no trouble. The food arrived piping hot, fresh, such a generous amount that it fed our daughter too. Will 1000% reccomend and order again, couldn’t even tell it was delivered was like eating in. Best cafe in the area!! *****”

“Came in on a lovely Sunday afternoon and I could clearly tell that the people working there were understaffed. I ordered fish and chippy for myself and my family and I noticed that there were a lot of people also waiting to be served. We all got our meal on time, which was lovely and what what impressed me the most was the service of the staff and in particular Robert. He was so nice and understanding even though there must have been immense pressure to continue his service. Please Morrisons make sure you take care of him and his staff. “Kind staff, perfect location, cheap rooms and nice standard :). I kinda dont understand bad opinions, because I was there for 5 days and everything was perfect. I even left my money, laptop and phone when they were cleaning rooms and everything was just like I left it. Sometimes you need to wait for hot water especially on the 4th floor but that is just gravity, not owners fault.”

“It was a great hotel. I don't know why people complaining about this hotel. It was really easy to check in and your free to go and comeback with a password. The rooms are small but perfect. Only thing of service. When people stay longer cann you make the rooms clean after maybe 3 days or something. It's a small tip!! Maybe see you next time.”

“I have to say, I enjoyed every single bite of the pizza in Pizza Di Loro. I had a pizza of the house, with a couple of "ichnuso" beers. Considering the quality, the price is reasonable. Ideal for those who want a romantic night out. There was also plenty of room for bigger groups.”

“Been ordering from this place for a while now. Normally from uber. This time we went In and sat down to eat. I Normally get the omelette bap. Reading the menu found out they do alot of inidan dishes. Can't wait to go back and try them. Was asked how spicy I like my bap found that to be the key. As before once I ordered from uber it came too spicy. I can handle my heat but my god that day I cried. But over all great place to grab a sandwich and odd indian dishes. Bombay sandwich was really tasty too. Must visit place gotta say”

“I had morning coffee and toast at this lovely cafe on Edgeware Road while my husband was attending an appointment nearby. It was so good I took him back there for lunch! The menu is varied. The food is excellent, plentiful and inexpensive. I had chicken kebab with rice, salad and pitta and my husband had a fry up. Delicious. The chatter was lively between the customers and between customers and staff. As soon as you walked in you felt welcome. I just wish they had a cafe round the corner from me.”

“This place is my favorite choice for BBQ platter. It isnt smokey and this will not make you smell. The quality of the meat was superb esp the beef. Japchae was good but not exceptionally good. I tasted better ones than this. Seafood bibimbap was very tasty so as the beef. Not quite sure with the chicken. The desserts are nice. It was worth a try at least once. Over-all, the side presentation was lovely, it has good variety and flavor. It is a bit pricey though but real good! Oh, drinks and costumer service were exceptional!”
