Cecconi's City of London
● Closed“We are back home in Sydney now – the end of our 2 month holiday in Europe – but before we left London last Tuesday, we celebrated with a late lunch at one of our London faves Cecconi’s, in the beautiful Ned Hotel. If you haven’t been I highly recommend it as one of the most beautiful establishments around - from start to finish, around every corner, there is yet more to adore. Restaurants, cafes, bars… I will write a separate review about The Ned. We’ve eaten here several times - the food always consistently good. The staff less so unfortunately, though I should say, there is a pecking order of levels here, from basic servers to more senior waiters - this time we were lucky & our waiter was a dream - he dealt wonderfully with all my nitty gritty questions, knew all the answers and helped me so much, with no attitude whatsoever. He welcomed & in fact encouraged my questions, which is extremely rare! Wayne had a delicious Chardonnay - Cervaro Chardonnay, Castello della Sala, Umbria, which at £19 per glass you’d hope so! My non-alcoholic Punchy was perfect. We shared 2 entrees which were delicious - the Vitello Tonnato is one of the best. Very generous serve – tender & the sauce just right. Our mains were superb as well - my pasta was cooked al dente & the cheese was so refined. Personally I think a thinner pasta works better to soak up more sauce but it was delicious all the same. Wayne’s Veal was so tender & tasty. Rarely can we fit in dessert - how do people do it!”

Crystal Cafe London
● Closed48 Brooksby's Walk, London E9 6DA, United Kingdom“Very great little cafe you get what you pay for and great portions - delicious traditional English brekkie! The staff are really welcoming and always smiling. It's in such great location, especially if you unfortunately have a hospital visit, Homerton hospital is around the corner and Chatsworth road market up the road. This place feels really homey and has a real sense of community.”

Express Food & Wine, London
● Open423-427 High Road Leytonstone, London E11 4JU, United Kingdom“The shop never disappoints..especially when you cannot be bothered to go "no further"! Was great alternative during lockdown 1.0 and now they have a halal butchers inside. Very good cuts of seasoned and unseasonal meats. Lots of fruit and veg, inside and outside the shop. You can top on energy and cards. So hopefully you won't be disappointed.”

Holiday Inn London - West
● Open“Our hotel in three different occasions during our UK tour. Rooms are fine but the beds are on the narrow side, though. The included breakfast was great. Subway is five minutes away on foot (Central Line, North Acton), as well as two supermarkets, a Subway, Domino's and Papa John's restaurants. Not much else, though. Good value”

International Supermarket London
● Closed618 High Road Leytonstone, London E11 3DA, United Kingdom“Most of what you (should) need on a day to day basis is sold here - including an impressive range of grocery, chilled meats, breads, fresh fruit and veg. You're not going to be able to buy the fennel twig tea sold by your favourite supermarket plc - but you might find an international alternative. Locally. What's not to like?”
