Charteris (Kilburn) Sports Centre
● Closed“After retiring from work my Doctor diagnosed me with Type 2 Diabetes and prescribed medication (MetFormin tablets). He advised me to exercise and to lose weight. I joined my local Charteris gym and the free weekly Over 50s Keep Fit session where I received a warm welcome and made new friends. Charteris is a community-based not for profit centre run by committed and hardworking Director Lloyd and colleagues who have developed a popular programme of activities for a diverse neighbourhood. After 6 months attending Charteris my Doctor tested me again and found that my health had improved and that I had lost weight. He told me that I no longer had Diabetes and stopped my medication. I will continue to use the Charteris Gym and to attend the weekly Over 50s sessions as it helps me to keep fit, lose weight, improve my health and hopefully live longer!”

Staff is great and is always helpful..”

London Fencing Club
● Closed“I joined the club after lockdown and it's hands down the only sporty activity I've managed to keep up with regularly, over a year now (and I really hate going to the gym generally)! It's a great club for beginners, as you get to fence other inexperienced fencers, as well as people with more than 10-15 years of experience who will give you advice and guidance. The private lessons are also nice and the coaches have different teaching styles, so you can learn various skills from all of them. It's a great place if you're new to London and are looking to also enrich your social life, while getting some intense cardio done!”

Ongar Leisure Centre
● Closed“Since being refurbished last year, it feels fresher, cleaner and less cluttered, especially in and around the swimming pool viewing area. There are now seats both inside the swimming pool area, as well as in the viewing area so you can choose where to sit. Haven't been in the gym area yet, but if it's had the same kind of makeover the reception has, I'm sure it'll look great.”

Kentish Town Sports Centre
● Closed“I've been swimming here regularly for many years, and I really love the place. The main pool is clean and flooded with natural light, and rarely too crowded. I recently had reason to make a complaint, and the management really went out of their way to understand the problem and put it right. I was impressed by the time they took to listen, and their willingness to find a way forwards. It's so important to have facilities like this in our community - we're lucky to have this center.”
