Tree Grove
● Open“Nice place run by friendly folk. There are some ponys on the field too, which is lovely. Bathrooms were always clean and tidy. Showers were warm and comfortable. They even got a fridge for food and stuff which you can use for free. It is about half an hour walk to the centre of Kilkenny, which is absolutely awesome because there are so many nice pubs - you really don't want to drive on your way back to the camping site ;-) enjoy some Kilkenny in Kilkenny :) We loved it! Only negative, but I don't think they can do anything about it: the drink water tastes of chlorine. But there plenty supermarkets in Kilkenny, so it isn't a problem at all.”

Birr Castle Demesne
● Closed“Birr Castle is an amazing and easy walk to bring the family to. The grounds are immaculate and the the sights to see are very interesting. With the Leviathan being the highlight of the walk in my own opinion. The gardens are spacious and elegant making the stroll through them a breath of fresh air. If you are looking for a unique setting for photography I would definitely recommend Birr Castle”

Brandon House Hotel & Solas Croí Spa
● Open“Beautifully situated at a height overlooking the River Barrow, the things that made the Brandon House Hotel stand out were how comfortable it was, the variety and quality of the food available but more than else it was the attention to detail and the little touches, and the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. Anita at reception gave us a warm welcome on arrival. We really enjoyed breakfast. As well as a cooked breakfast there was delicious homemade bread, home made marmalade, overnight oats and smoothies. That certainly set us up for exploring the surrounding area during the day. Thanks to Alison who gave us a friendly welcome each morning. On our first evening we ate in the Library Bar. There was a wide variety of offerings on the menu and we really enjoyed the bangers and mash, and steak sandwich. Dessert too was very tasty. For a change the second night we ate in the Gallery Restaurant, themed with paintings by Irish artists. The display of paintings and list of Irish painters on the walls was a great talking point and we found ourselves googling several of the names and learning more about Irish art. There was a friendly and attentive service as always, thanks to Ellie and Aidan. Food was delicious. I would recommend the hake. My partner enjoyed the steak. Again the desserts were very tasty and beautifully presented. There was excellent value for money. The use of tech, whether being able to check in, in advance or receive a confirmation of evening meal bookings by emails was another bonus. And there was ample parking in the hotel grounds. Thanks to all for a very lovely weekend. We plan to return.”
