“An absolute pleasure to eat here whenever we do. The fish is always fresh from the market, the miso is always perfectly balanced. Love his set menus for dinner but think I now love the lunch menu more for all the Don dishes, and his Japanese sushi is my favourite! Been coming here for years and it always improves our day. It's such a relaxed and calm environment. His plating is always a delight too. If it's busy, you will wait a while as he's on his own the last while, but the flavour is worth the wait. Wouldn't recommend a big group for the best experience with waits etc, but great for a date or a foodie friend :)”

“This place is amazing. I've only discovered it recently, but I have gone several times since then. The place is small but very cute, and it mostly serves just sushi and sashimi. I love authentic Japanese food, which is hard to find in Galway. The service is very good. The staff are always kind and friendly and the food is ready quite quickly. My favourite dish is the salmon katsu roll, I would recommend it to people who don't like eating raw fish as the fish is fried in this dish. The sushi box is also good if you want to have a variety of sushi. Overall, I loved this place and would recommend it to anyone who was even remotely thinking about coming here.”

They've already thought of customers having to queue in the winter weather and put up a great sheltered walkway that even has benches for resting your feet. Great family owned and run business.”

“Absolutely delicious! I was craving for some proper Asian food and walking in Galway city centre I accidentally stumbled upon this little gem in town. As far as I am concerned, this is really 5 ⭐. I had the chicken satay (tender, great nutty flavour), vietnamese spring rolls with chicken (crunchy an very tasty) and a more than proper Indonesian Nasi Goreng with beef (full of flavor). Will be back again and can highly recommend Umbrella Asian Tapas.”
