Derryounce Lakes and Walkways
Welcome to Derryounce Lakes and Walkways, a hidden gem located in Derryvilla, Co. Offaly, Ireland. This unique institution holds a rich history that dates back to the mid-20th Century when it was purchased by Bord na Móna as part of their greater Clonsast group of bogs. Originally used for sod peat production, this area played a vital role in supplying peat to the old power station in Portarlington. After decades of peat production, the remaining cutaway bog was transformed into a stunning conifer plantation by Coillte. However, in the 1980s, industrial peat production ceased, and the landscape underwent a remarkable transformation. With the lowering of ground levels, a basin was formed in the central area, which eventually became the beautiful Lough Lurgan after the pumps were turned off. This flooded area is now a picturesque lake that adds to the charm of Derryounce Lakes and Walkways.

Welcome to Newbridge Silverware, a prestigious establishment located at 19 High Street in Kilkenny. As a renowned home goods and jewelry store, we take pride in our unique history of craftsmanship and experience, combined with a contemporary and fresh attitude to design. Our story begins at the turn of the 20th century, in the thriving garrison community of Newbridge, nestled in the heart of Co. Kildare, Ireland. However, everything changed in 1921 when the army vacated, leaving behind a significant economic void. It was at this moment that the metal forging and linishing equipment left behind by the army, along with the local expertise, came together to create something truly special - The Newbridge Cutlery Company.
