In 1912, Covington city leaders ambitiously sought to bring professional baseball to the area. Despite facing opposition from the nearby Cincinnati Reds, the city was awarded a franchise in the Federal League, an "outlaw" league that challenged the established norms of the sport. With the community rallying together, $13,500 was raised, and $6,000 was allocated to construct a dedicated ballpark. Esteemed local architect Bernard Wisenall designed what was then known as Federal Park, also affectionately referred to as Riverbreeze Park.
