The High Plains Museum, located at 1717 Cherry Avenue in Goodland, Kansas, is a local government office, museum, and tourist attraction that showcases the history of Western Kansas. Established in 1959, the museum features over 8,000 objects that represent over a hundred years of Northwestern Kansas history. From Native Americans to soldiers, homesteaders to farmers, railroaders to teachers, and entrepreneurs, the stories of the people of Western Kansas are preserved and presented at the High Plains Museum. Visitors of all ages can explore the rich history of Sherman County through the museum's exhibits. Open Monday, Wednesday through Saturday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, and Sundays from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm (June - August), the High Plains Museum is a must-visit destination in Goodland.
