Welcome to Wilson Prairie, a breathtaking 37-acre native prairie located at 10400 County Road G44X, Muscatine, Iowa. This remarkable site is believed to be a remnant native prairie, offering a glimpse into Iowa's rich natural heritage. The land was originally purchased by the Wilson family in 1922, who cherished its beauty and played a crucial role in its preservation. Historically grazed by cattle and hayed until recently, these practices helped maintain the prairie’s unique ecosystem by preventing woody encroachment, although some areas saw the spread of brome grass. In December 2019, Louisa County Conservation secured the future of Wilson Prairie with the help of a Resource Enhancement and Protection (REAP) grant and the generous support of the Tri-Rivers Conservation Foundation.
