Keokuk National Cemetery
β OpenWelcome to Keokuk National Cemetery, a historic and serene resting place dedicated to honoring the memory of our nation's veterans. Located at 1701 J Street, Keokuk, Iowa, this national cemetery offers a solemn and dignified environment for the final resting place of veterans and their eligible family members. The cemetery spans over 2.75 acres and is steeped in rich history, dating back to the mid-19th century when it was originally part of Oakland Cemetery. Keokuk National Cemetery is part of a proud tradition of national cemeteries established to inter the remains of Union soldiers from the Civil War. The site was donated to the U.S. government by the city of Keokuk, and it became an essential burial ground for soldiers who perished in nearby Army hospitals during the war. Today, it continues to serve as a place of remembrance and respect for those who served in the armed forces.
