Established in 1993, our office is dedicated to upholding the Sixth Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, which guarantees the right to the assistance of counsel for individuals accused in criminal cases. We provide legal representation to those charged in federal court who cannot afford to hire an attorney. Our office, part of a network that includes locations in Des Moines, Cedar Rapids, Sioux City, and Davenport, is staffed by a committed team of 35 professionals, including 14 assistant federal defenders.
