Welcome to Trail Creek Fen, a hidden natural gem located in Michigan City, Indiana. Nestled within LaPorte County, this unique park offers visitors a glimpse into the diverse and beautiful ecosystems that once thrived along the southern Lake Michigan watershed. Despite being surrounded by homes and roads, Trail Creek Fen remains a pristine sanctuary, showcasing the distinctive raised graminoid fen and sedge-covered wetlands. Owned and managed by Save the Dunes, Trail Creek Fen is a testament to dedicated conservation efforts. The preserve undergoes regular restoration and maintenance, including the removal of excess woody growth and prescribed burns to reintroduce the natural cycle of fire. Invasive species such as Dame's rocket, privet, and garlic mustard are actively managed to protect the native flora and fauna. The stewardship team is committed to restoring degraded areas and enhancing the upland habitat.
