White River Campground
Located on the west bank of a beautiful stretch of the White River, White River Campground in Cicero, Indiana, offers the perfect setting for a weekend getaway in Hamilton County. With 26 acres of stunning terrain to explore by foot or by river, guests can enjoy the wildlife and adventures of nearby Strawtown Koteewi Park. The campground features 106 modern and primitive campsites, ideal for fishing, boating, and relaxation. Additional amenities include a 55-foot by 35-foot picnic shelter for rent, with grills and picnic tables available. Guests can also take advantage of the special discount of buy 6 nights, get the 7th night free. The campground is currently closed for the season, with the 2024 season beginning on April 15th. Whiting Park & Recreation Department
Whiting Park & Recreation Department, located at 1443 119th Street in Whiting, Indiana, is a beautiful park offering a variety of amenities for visitors to enjoy. The park is open all day for pedestrians, with gates opening daily at 7am and closing at 8:00pm. The park features 15 acres of play areas, walking paths, tennis courts, a baseball diamond, picnic facilities, a fishing pier, sand volleyball courts, and a relaxing fish pond with a waterfall. Visitors can also host weddings and receptions with scenic photo opportunities overlooking Lake Michigan and the Chicago skyline. Adjacent to the park is Whihala Beach, which offers a complete Lake Michigan beach experience with stunning views of the Chicago skyline. The beach features the WhoaZone, a floating water park with slides, trampolines, towers, and more. Guests can also enjoy stand-up paddleboarding, kayaking, restrooms, food concessions, walking paths, a bike trail, and fishing (proper fishing licenses required).

Shadyside Memorial Park Chinese Gardens
Shadyside Memorial Park Chinese Gardens, located at 1112 Broadway Street in Anderson, Indiana, is a historic park and tourist attraction. Originally opened in 1897 as a private park for employees of the Union Traction Company, the park was dedicated to all Madison County war veterans in 1923 when the City of Anderson purchased it and opened it to the public. The park features the Terraced Gardens, originally constructed as Japanese Gardens by nurseryman Milton H. Gaar in 1928, as well as the Bear Caves built by the Works Progress Administration in 1933. In the late 1990s, renovations were made to the park, including the creation of a botanical walk, amphitheater, and Veterans Commons. The park also offers a regional playground, trail access to Shadyside Recreation Area and the White River Trail System, and is home to the Shadyside Little League. Picnic shelters and tables are available for larger gatherings, and the concrete amphitheater provides hillside seating for events. The terrace area, formerly known as the Japanese Gardens, is a popular spot for weddings in a beautifully landscaped setting.
