About the Business
Shadyside Memorial Park Chinese Gardens, located at 1112 Broadway Street in Anderson, Indiana, is a historic park and tourist attraction. Originally opened in 1897 as a private park for employees of the Union Traction Company, the park was dedicated to all Madison County war veterans in 1923 when the City of Anderson purchased it and opened it to the public. The park features the Terraced Gardens, originally constructed as Japanese Gardens by nurseryman Milton H. Gaar in 1928, as well as the Bear Caves built by the Works Progress Administration in 1933. In the late 1990s, renovations were made to the park, including the creation of a botanical walk, amphitheater, and Veterans Commons. The park also offers a regional playground, trail access to Shadyside Recreation Area and the White River Trail System, and is home to the Shadyside Little League. Picnic shelters and tables are available for larger gatherings, and the concrete amphitheater provides hillside seating for events. The terrace area, formerly known as the Japanese Gardens, is a popular spot for weddings in a beautifully landscaped setting. Visit Shadyside Memorial Park Chinese Gardens for a peaceful and scenic experience in Anderson, Indiana.

Reviews
"Entering the park, you wouldn't think you would find anything remarkable. If you wander a bit in the shade under the trees, you find a treasure of a garden. From Chinese inspired stone walls to statues memorializing veterans, this garden is packed with textures and tributes."
"This park is so beautiful! It's a shame the locals trash it. There was so much litter around the stairs. If I lived near this park I'd make sure to spend some time cleaning it up. It's really a beautiful gift to this area."
"We like going here as a couple to walk and tak. Very nice!"
"Clean and beautiful, I love this park for nature photography and the kids love the play ground"
"My dog and I spend a lot of time here during every season. No matter when we go the trails are clean and for the most part, well lot and paved. There's lots of native plants and trees, birds and wildlife, and we love it. Whether we're walking around the lake or hanging out around the memorial, we always have a good time."
