Felix Haas Hall
Felix Haas Hall, located at 250 North University Street in West Lafayette, Indiana, is a school institution that houses classroom, office, and laboratory space. Originally known as Memorial Gymnasium, the building was built as a memorial to the football players, students, and alumni who died in the 1903 Purdue train wreck. The gymnasium was suggested by W.J. Jones as a tribute to those who lost their lives in the tragic accident. The building, completed in 1908, featured an elevated track, swimming pool, showers, lockers, and a trophy center. Over the years, the building served various purposes, including hosting men's basketball games and commencement ceremonies. In 1985, Felix Haas Hall was remodeled to accommodate the Department of Computer Science. The building was renamed in 2006 in honor of Felix Haas, a former dean of the School of Science and university provost who played a key role in the development of the Department of Computer Science at Purdue. Today, Felix Haas Hall continues to house faculty offices, classrooms, and laboratories for various departments.
