Originally constructed in 1882 by the Kellogg & Maurice Bridge Company for the Cincinnati & Southern Ohio River Railroad, the bridge has a storied past. Over the years, it became a part of several major railroads, including the Cleveland, Cincinnati, Chicago & St. Louis Railway and the New York Central Railroad. In 1976, the bridge was incorporated into Conrail's L&A Running Track, only to be abandoned a few years later in 1979.
