"Update: My young son gave me a flyer showing you were doing a free Thanksgiving dinner giveaway. Your flyer said that it would be from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. I arrived around 12:15 PM & was told that you had (500) dinners to "give away" & that they ALL were gone and sorry. I don't believe for one second that (500) dinners were given away in a (1) hour span of time. YOU have misconstrued statements in your response. When my son gave me the flyer I called the # on your flyer & left a voicemail message ASKING if the event was sit in or drive up & for more elaboration (2) days before the event. YOU DIDN'T RESPOND BACK! Had you done so I would have had the information you conveniently put in your review response! Having a sign on your business "while supplies last" WAS NOT on the flyer or even visible to anyone who arrived since it was a drive up event! You FAILED to put the info on your flyer. Had you responded to my request for more information I would have came earlier. I arrived at a REASONABLE time & did so because of the information YOU provided. Your response indicates that you started giving away the free meals at 8:00 a.m. 8:00 a.m. IS NOT 11:00 a.m, which is (3) hours EARLY! How would I know that you would start early when the FLYER says that you would start the giveaway at 11:00 a.m? Even IF I arrived at 11:00 a.m. you would have given away all the dinners by the time the flyer says you would start? Your response mentions how you help the community to DISTRACT from my issue. Great that you help seniors or kids w/ school supplies. That wasn't WHY I did a review! I came due to not being able to feed my child a Thanksgiving dinner for lack of resources because of being in a bad situation. Had you RESPONDED to my request for more information I would have found another place to receive a Thanksgiving meal. I truly appreciate you for feeding the community (providing meals, braiding hair, giving backpacks) but don't try to BELITTLE me or my experience or dismiss/justify what happened when I arrived. That also is NOT COOL!"

"I’m not sure what happened. It was good last couple times last year. The fish is bland, the greens has too much vinegar and no flavor like before. The cornbread ain’t right. The rice in the gumbo is not enough and it’s mushy. The chicken in the Gino is strange. The sausage doesn’t taste the same. It at least could’ve been browned for taste and flavor. The potatoes in the potato salad was too hard. Dirty rice-mushy. I may try one more time but this was terrible. Old review: The chicken and sausage gumbo is flavorful and delicious. My son had the jambalaya and said it was delicious. I wish the jambalaya didn’t have shrimp in it because I would’ve definitely tried it too. Also the cornbread is really good, flavorful, soft, and buttery"

"I am from Louisiana and I’ve been in Indy for 10 years. I’ve been trying to find a restaurant that reminded me of home ever since. Chef Borels is what Yats pretends to be. I just ordered the chicken and sausage gumbo with cornbread for lunch today and when I opened that container and took my first bite, I was home again. I can not wait to try everything she has to offer. Take it from a creole man, if you want authentic creole food, order from Chef Borel’s."
