Village of Carol Stream Historic Farmhouse
The Village of Carol Stream Historic Farmhouse, located at 297 West Lies Road in Carol Stream, Illinois, is dedicated to preserving and sharing the rich history of the community. Originally known as the Stark Farm, this historic structure dates back to before 1874 and is one of the last remaining farmsteads in the village. Owned by the Village of Carol Stream, the farmhouse was generously donated by Paquinelli Builders and is now open to the public for educational and recreational purposes. The two-story gabled farmhouse, with its frame construction and stone foundation, sits on a picturesque one-acre parcel surrounded by new single-family housing and a park. The property features mature trees and a serene setting that offers visitors a glimpse into the agricultural heritage of DuPage County.
Armstrong Park
Armstrong Park, located at 391 Illini Drive in Carol Stream, Illinois, is a popular tourist attraction and the largest park in the park district. Named after astronaut Neil Armstrong, the park features various amenities such as lighted ball fields, playgrounds, an in-line skate rink, sand volleyball and basketball courts. Visitors can explore the historic Gretna Station and Caboose, walk the trails around the reservoir to Lake George and Balog Island, home to a colony of Purple Martins. The park also offers picnic shelters, baseball fields, restroom facilities, a roller hockey rink, and a sled hill. Due to construction, the picnic shelter is currently not available for rent. However, visitors can still enjoy the many recreational activities and facilities at Armstrong Park. The park is also known for its KidsWorld playground, which was redesigned in 2016 to retain its original charm and features. Additionally, the park is home to a colony of Purple Martins and historical landmarks such as the Gretna Station and Caboose.
