Originally opened in 1992 as the Community Recreation Center Annex, the center was later renamed in 1994 in honor of the Park District's early childhood supervisor, Patricia Shepard. The center also houses the Ken Alley Safety Park, which offers safety awareness classes taught by various organizations including the Schaumburg Fire Department and Police Department. Due to a renovation project, the Water Works entrance and concessions will be closed starting Aug. 1, with all other patrons needing to use the north entrance.
