"I got the baby on 3 Kings Day, so I had to purchase the tamales for El Dia de la Candelaria (Candlemas Day). I placed an order the day before and it was ready at the time I requested for pickup. The staff were friendly as well. I ordered an assortment of the tamales: rajas, red/green, pork/chicken, and sweet tamales. My coworkers loved them all. The tamales were all delicious. I highly recommend."
"Best tamales in Chicago. I would say I live all the way up north and I travel all the way out west just to make sure I get a taste of these tamales the green chicken tamales are definitely a great start. Aside from the tamales everything there is so delicious and authentic."
"I wouldn't dare to bring someone to this place. My honest review, the food was somewhat ok. The chips tasted like they were moist and not as crunchy, the table salsas were not good, at the least. I had Al Pastor taco dinner, $11.99 and I had horchata $3.50 and a Coke $1.50 to go. I dined-in. Like everyone said, there's a dine-in fee of 10% + 4% for using a debit/credit card + Taxes + tip. Almost left paying twice the food and 1 drink. This place is charging too much with fees and the food is below mediocre. Save your money and eat somewhere else. Bathroom was broken at the time. Left paying about $25 for myself for 3 tacos, what seemed like canned refried beans and tasteless rice."
"What was once a great place to eat because it was a community spot that had affordable dishes, has now become a little higher priced by about 15% for the food and they have added a tax for eating in the restaurant. I asked about the receipt and saw the price for my Mexican eggs, a tamale and a cup of coffee soar to over $14.00, not counting my tip. Now remember that this is like a neighborhood restaurant, not the Ritz. Not too many months ago I was paying around 10 - 11 for breakfast without being worried about an additional charge which is not advertised anywhere - on the menu or anywhere else. They are somewhat reluctant to give a receipt and I fully understand why, considering the hidden charges. Unfortunately the clients don't leave a tip I was told, which is the reason the sit-inside tax was started. I'm not even sure this is a legal tax. I'm going to reconsider eating here because of the things mentioned above and just might let some time pass to see of policies change."
