Motel 6 Arlington Heights, IL - Chicago North Central

"Avoid this motel! Staff lies, is rude, and will keep your deposit for whatever vague excuse they can make! I stayed at this location a month ago (December), and at the time, I felt like the motel was passable for my needs despite how poorly maintained parts of the property were. We decided to come back and stay again in the Arlington Heights Motel 6 so we reserved a room for a week and came in this past Monday, only to be told they had banned us from staying again. We were accused of damaging linens and leaving excessive garbage, which I knew was not correct because we had made a point of taking any garbage we had to the dumpster the morning we left and there had been no damage or stains on the sheets when we left. When I asked for details on what we were being accused of, the staff couldn't explain anything, had no actual proof that it was our room that was the issue, and was overall unhelpful and accusatory. I asked to speak to a manager, who took one look at the vague note a cleaning staff member allegedly left about us and just said, "No, you cannot stay," ignoring my concerns outright. According to him, there was no way the staff were mistaken about the room they left the note under and was incredibly rude and accusatory. We were told that the linens were "damaged beyond repair" and had to be thrown out but they couldn't decide if it was torn, stained, or whatever and the excessive garbage was repeatedly referenced even though they probably had footage of me taking garbage to the dumpster that morning considering how many cameras this place has. It really felt like they were trying to get away with lying, considering how inconstant they were being. First, they said it might have been our dog (who was always supervised and had his own dog bed to sleep in, not to mention well-behaved). Then they offered that maybe it was blood or some other ambiguous stain that couldn't be cleaned. Either way, it felt like they had no idea which story to pin on us, so they just kept changing it. It really feels unprofessional that any staff member could leave a vague note accusing a guest of something without at least needing some kind of proof or explanation, and it be treated as absolute fact. They kept our deposit and rejected our reservation (the day of instead of calling ahead) and told us to go to a different motel. I feel that I was treated incredibly rudely, and I know there was no truth to the accusations leveled at my family. We have stayed a lot in Motel6 locations these past few years and I have done my best to be a clean and undemanding tenant considering the prices have been decent but after this experience, I'm not entirely sure if I feel comfortable staying at these locations anymore considering that this kind of treatment is being allowed within the franchise. It feels like we were banned just so they could keep our deposit or because one of the cleaning staff just didn't like us being there and it's infuriating, considering how run down the property was to begin with. Mine isn't the only complaint for this location, and I see why, considering how rude the office staff/management is and how poorly cared for this place was (there was more dog poop than grass!)."

"I travel to Chicago monthly. On this trip, I didn't have my debit card since mine expired and I haven't received the new one so I was paying with cash. The place I usually stay were so rude to my family so we went across the street to Motel 6. Not only was the room half as much, the staff was amazing. They went beyond what is needed and treated us great. It is now the 1st place we will try on our monthly trip back home. Plus, they take cash if you don't want to give them a card."

"My brother stayed here and due to some unforeseen issues unable to return to remove his belongings. I called to see what the process was so I can possibly go and the manager Muhammed was completely disrespectful. He did not listen to what I was asking then yelled at me and told me I have no authorization to anything. After I explained to him what I was trying to do he refuse to tell me what the process was until I told him why my brother couldn’t return. I don’t know how he even still has a job."

"Rooms were simple and clean. Employees were very nice. Trash was removed daily, and we received new towels and soap daily. Beds were not made/sheets not changed daily, but that was okay with us and not expected given the price of the rooms. It was in a great location with a lot of restaurants close by. The area was nice and we felt very safe. Parking lot has a ton of lighting and some cameras so we felt safe coming/going at night, and that our vehicles would be secure. Only drawback was the strong smell of marijuana which we are not used to, so maybe next time I'll just ask for a non-smoking part of the building. I recommend it for a good place to stay for a great price."
