Armstrong Park
● OpenArmstrong Park, located at 391 Illini Drive in Carol Stream, Illinois, is a popular tourist attraction and the largest park in the park district. Named after astronaut Neil Armstrong, the park features various amenities such as lighted ball fields, playgrounds, an in-line skate rink, sand volleyball and basketball courts. Visitors can explore the historic Gretna Station and Caboose, walk the trails around the reservoir to Lake George and Balog Island, home to a colony of Purple Martins. The park also offers picnic shelters, baseball fields, restroom facilities, a roller hockey rink, and a sled hill. Due to construction, the picnic shelter is currently not available for rent. However, visitors can still enjoy the many recreational activities and facilities at Armstrong Park. The park is also known for its KidsWorld playground, which was redesigned in 2016 to retain its original charm and features. Additionally, the park is home to a colony of Purple Martins and historical landmarks such as the Gretna Station and Caboose.
