“Quite possibly the most delicious food I’ve had in a very long time. To think I’ve come away raving about carrots! All dishes were lick-your-plate-clean delicious. Clever combinations of flavours in every meal. Cauliflower done four ways, the creamiest ice cream you’ve ever tried, and incredibly fluffy gnocchi. Super attentive staff and a fabulous wine selection. Highly recommend Luz - get there!”

“One world: excellent. We choose the banquet course”Ume”, and it’s worth every penny. Shout out to the chef who makes our date perfectly perfect. Thank you so much, it has a warm environment, nice decoration and every plate I taste is as fresh and as tasty as possible. We had a really lovely time here. For anyone who wondered, we had miso soup, edamame, tofu salad, sashimi, beef tataki, chicken karaage, sushi rolls, gyoza, beef steak, matcha panna cotta with matcha ice cream and sesame ice cream.”

“Not many places where we've basically cleaned our own plates. Food was fantastic, serving size being just right for the price. Servers were prompt and friendly, without being overbearing at all. We had the special (Spaghetti with prawns, chili, caramelised onion & napoletana sauce) and the gnocci. Will definitely be recommending this place to friends, and will definitely be coming back again. I'd vote 6 stars if I could.”

“Such a hidden gem. Love this place!!! Ramen was really tasty, very rich pork bone broth, ramen was also very well cooked. Had the BBQ meat platter, everything was beyond my expectations, the dipping sauce adds sooo much flavour. Fried fish and pork dumplings were excellent too.”

“The Astor grill is a wonderful place to dine, The service is amazing, consistent and courteous ensuring you are made feel valued genuinely. The meal sizes are just the right portion sizes and cooked beautifully, your water glass never empty. The atmosphere is relaxed and comfortable with just the right amount of ambience. It's definately money well spent, I've dined twice and will certainly dine there again. The only regret I have is not thinking to leave a tip.”

“A fantastic restaurant in a charming spot next to the canal. I had the pan seared duck breast fillet which was delightful. Very flavorsome and the searing gave it a nice texture. The meal gave me a high enough opinion on the restaurant that I didn't want to leave without also trying a dessert. I had the chocolate fondue pudding, the highlight of which was the caramelized white chocolate crumble. It was quite a relaxing time next to the water on a clear day. The service from the hostess was top notch, friendly and attentive. Everyone there did a great job.”

“Outstanding !!! We are a family of 4 with two teens. We each ordered a steak with sides to share (fat chips and broccolini). The steak was delicious and grilled to perfection. Fat chips were perfect as was the broccolini. We were quite full but squeezed in a dessert to share the yuzu cheesecake. It was absolutely delicious, light and a perfect way to end the meal. The service was excellent, the ambience was great and the artwork around the restaurant was beautiful. Very well enjoyed evening that we will not forget.”

“A fine dining institution in Launceston that we were very happy to have visited. The food is sublime and team absolutely charming and warm. I managed to take a photo of this lamb, which was the best I’ve ever had. Succulent, full of flavour and cooked to perfection. I ate this with a side of mushrooms and fried tarragon, delicious. Absolutely recommend can’t wait to come back in Spring. Yum!”

“WOW. Amazing quality sashimi and drinks! The ambiance is AMAZING. Beautiful Japan cherry blossoms and lots of cute decor in the front and dining area in the back. Also has outdoor seating with fire heating if needed! Tried the Kingfish Sashimi and Tuna Sashimi, and it was some of the best I've ever had. The Tuna was so flavorful and melted in my mouth right away. Highly recommend trying this place out for a drink and some super fresh seafood! Service and ambiance are top tier!!”

“The lumberjack breakfast is a luxury for me every so often. It's expensive, that and a coffee will set you back about $35, but it is bloody delicious. Fluffy, seasoned scrambled eggs... gorgeous potato hash... chorizo, bacon, pancakes and spicy maple syrup. Wowee. LOVE IT. It's lovely to sit on their deck in the summertime and look out over the bay, too.”
