Ringgold Gap Battlefield
Welcome to Ringgold Gap Battlefield Located in the historic town of Ringgold, Georgia, the Ringgold Gap Battlefield offers a unique glimpse into a pivotal moment of the American Civil War. Following the Union victory at Missionary Ridge, this site became the stage for a fierce battle on November 27th, 1863, as Confederate forces under Maj. Gen. Patrick Cleburne valiantly defended the Western & Atlantic Railroad against Maj. Gen. Joseph B. Hooker's advancing Union troops. Despite being outnumbered, Cleburne's strategic defense allowed the Confederate army to secure their supply lines and continue their campaign in the North Georgia hills.
