Welcome to Ringgold Gap Battlefield
Located in the historic town of Ringgold, Georgia, the Ringgold Gap Battlefield offers a unique glimpse into a pivotal moment of the American Civil War. Following the Union victory at Missionary Ridge, this site became the stage for a fierce battle on November 27th, 1863, as Confederate forces under Maj. Gen. Patrick Cleburne valiantly defended the Western & Atlantic Railroad against Maj. Gen. Joseph B. Hooker's advancing Union troops. Despite being outnumbered, Cleburne's strategic defense allowed the Confederate army to secure their supply lines and continue their campaign in the North Georgia hills.

"This a cute little park with shaded picnic tables. It is not very peaceful though as you see and hear the traffic."
"Very nice and well preserved portion of the Ringgold Gap Battlefield. Has some picnic tables and nice shade as well so it's a good place to have lunch. Very informative plaques and historical markers talking about the Battle itself and the beginning of the Atlanta Campaign. Highly recommend visiting if you are interested in our nation's history."
