Urban wildfire management in Port Richey, Florida

Today, we would like to inform you about an important event taking place at Werner-Boyce Salt Springs State Park. Starting at 10:00 am, a prescribed fire will be conducted in the area of the park entrance and behind Walmart (8701 US Highway 19). This planned fire, also known as a "controlled burn," is a critical tool for managing our natural resources and achieving specific environmental objectives. The Port Richey Fire Department and the Florida Forest Service – Withlacoochee Forestry Center will be on-site to assist with this operation.
