The Alafia River Reserve, located at 4872 Indian Oak Drive in Mulberry, Florida, is a 334-acre park jointly purchased by Polk County and the Southwest Florida Water Management District. This reserve was acquired to protect the natural wetlands and uplands along the upper corridor of the Alafia River. Home to wading birds and amphibians, the primary natural community in the reserve is forested hardwood wetlands, with trees such as sweet gum, laurel oak, and sabal palms. Visitors can enjoy hiking and picnicking in this peaceful and scenic environment.
