E.F.G. Orchids, located at 4265 Marsh Road in DeLand, Florida, is a renowned institution that has been in business for over 80 years. Originally founded in 1939 outside of Chicago, E.F.G. Orchids has evolved over the years to become the largest wholesale producer of cut cattleya orchid flowers in the world. The institution is known for its hybridizing program, which has produced crosses such as Cattleya Clark Herman and Phalaenopsis Wm. Kistler that are recognized worldwide. In 1990, the fourth generation of the Hausermann family joined the business and officially opened its doors for orchid plant sales to the retail market. The institution has since expanded its collection to include a wide variety of exotic plant species. In 2002, E.F.G. Orchids relocated to Florida and has since become fully established in Deland. The institution holds an annual plant festival called Orchtoberfest, and has a modern point of sale system implemented by the current grower, Quinton Hausermann.
