Dunnellon Trailhead is a park located at 1279 West Withlacoochee Trail in Citrus Springs, Florida, United States. The trail captures the look of historic railroad bridges from the late 1800s, when Dunnellon was a booming town due to the discovery of phosphate. The 2.4-mile-long paved multi-use trail runs along a historic railroad bed along the Rainbow River, with trailheads located on both the Marion County and Citrus County sides. The trail, opened in May 2015, offers beautiful views from the Withlacoochee River trail bridge and allows visitors to see wading birds, alligators, and other wildlife. Visitors can walk, jog, inline skate, or bike along the trail, enjoying the scenic views and imagining the railroad days of the past.
