"My experience at the Sky Islands Hotel in Fort Lauderdale, FL, was nothing short of a nightmare. The manager, who seems to have a tenuous grasp on sanity, turned out to be not only a thief but also an insufferable individual who lacks basic communication skills and is incessantly self-absorbed. Upon checking into a room that can only be described as gross and unkempt, it was revealed that the manager himself resides on the premises with his wife. To our dismay, he explicitly informed us that his wife had no intention of cleaning our room during our stay. This revelation, combined with the overall dismal state of the accommodations, left my wife in tears, prompting us to decide against enduring such an appalling experience. In a desperate attempt to salvage some sense of decency, I called the manager to request a refund. Unsurprisingly, he displayed zero willingness to accommodate our reasonable request, despite the hotel not being fully booked. I made the regrettable mistake of paying for a week in cash, a choice that proved to be a costly error. Adding insult to injury, the manager callously recounted his supposed rise from near-homelessness to his current position at the hotel, as if this should excuse the deplorable conditions. It became painfully apparent that this establishment, supposedly providing hospitality, was anything but. When informing the manager of our decision not to stay, his response was callous and indifferent: "Good, we can rent the room to someone else." Outraged, I escalated the matter to the owner, only to be met with further disappointment. No refund was issued, leaving me with a bitter lesson learned. In conclusion, I strongly advise anyone considering a stay at the Sky Islands Hotel to avoid it at all costs. The manager's lack of professionalism, combined with the appalling conditions and complete disregard for customer satisfaction, makes this establishment a regrettable choice for any traveler."

"Follow the rules, and everyone will be happy.. one of the rules is as follows: Be aware, when you book the room, it is for 2 people ONLY. Any additional person is $40. You also need to get the additional person paid for before they leave the office at 8pm or 9pm? Contact them regarding their front desk hours."

"Sky islands offers comfort and relaxation at affordable rates with the white sands of fort Lauderdale beach just yards away. You can't ask for more. The staff greeted us warmly and we immediately felt at ease. After a difficult first leg of our trip, their genuine smiles and helpful nature helped us ease into a much needed repreive from our daily stressors. Our room was comfortable, large, and clean. I feel those who wrote negative reviews may have interpreted some aged fixtures and decorative items as a reflection of cleanliness and that is absolutely not the case. The room was spotless and I found the furnishing (which was very comfortable!) added to a quirky boutique hotel old timey beach holiday house vibe that truly transports you into vacation mode. We are looking forward to visiting again! Thanks Sky Island :)"

"Photos are misleading! Was given their “best” room. Filthy! Towels were frail so pieces came off while drying. Oven and microwave were filthy. Ants all over kitchen counter. I showed one of the owners. I ended up purchasing cleaning supplies because management is nice and wanted to give it a chance. After 2 night of being bitten—I left to stay elsewhere . Did not check out so I can return—- only to find the lock changed when I did! I booked before reviews were posted so my loss. Place needs lots of work. Management staff are polite but the facilities need much improvement."
