"‼️NO LIGHTNING ALERT SYSTEM‼️‼️ We played in Venice Saturday, September 30th. Our daughter cheers for Cape Youth Storms 14U. When we arrived around 545 pm, lightning was 5 miles away. Every app I own was going off for lightning in the area. I asked 2 ladies working the front gate if they had a lightning system, like Earth Network to track the lightning. They stuttered and claimed “someone” monitors it. The storm kept moving closer. I messaged their fb page expressing my concerns and my message was read but no reply was ever sent. Everyone around us was pointing out lightning strikes visible from the field. After the first under 3 miles away. Cape Youth pulled their cheerleaders from the sidelines for their safety. Flo is the lightning capital of the country and I am shocked and concerned for anyone’s safety who steps foot on their field with storms in the area. We have lost lives on our own home field due to lighting. These are OUR CHILDREN and ultimately it’s JUST A GAME. 14U shouldn’t have even started their game yesterday. We have been doing Pop Warner for over 10 years and this is the ONLY FIELD that has not monitored lightning. Stay safe and ALERT if you end up playing the Vikings at home . Watch your OWN lightning trackers and take shelter when necessary. It’s not worth it. Love, a very concerned cheer mom"
