O'Leno State Park, located at 410 Southeast Oleno Park Road in High Springs, Florida, is one of the state's first parks and was developed by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930s. Situated along the picturesque Santa Fe River, a tributary of the Suwannee River, the park showcases sinkholes, hardwood hammocks, river swamps, and sandhills. The river even disappears underground and reemerges over three miles away in River Rise Preserve State Park.

Visitors to O'Leno State Park can enjoy a day of hiking or biking on the shaded trails, launch a canoe or try fishing on the Santa Fe River, or relax and picnic in the pavilions along the river's edge. "Stayed here for two nights and despite the hot mess men’s restroom facilities, I enjoyed my stay. The bike trails were scenic and enjoyable but the suspension bridge pictured on the state park’s website is still in need of repair. I understand this park was built in the 30’s but it is worthy of state funding to fix some of the inexcusably broken facilities. I actually went to the ranger station to complain and get a partial refund but was told, “ no one has ever asked for that and I’ll have to ask my manager.” I left my contact info and a week later have only heard crickets."

"O’Leno was a nice enough campground but cater to their Florida reservations on the weekends. So even though we booked 10 months out we had to move to a different site after a week - not convenient and won’t draw us back. The roads need maintenance, they are washed out and very choppy. Facilities were kept clean. The rule of not allowing campers to take downed wood bit this park in the butt as there was a fire and plenty of fuel. Not a good business plan Florida!"

"Wandering trails that lead to more than a dozen camp cabins; group camping ; see where the river ends ; camp meeting building; large group kitchen; walk in cooler; a freezer ; ice machine picnic areas; covered outdoor picnic/ fish fry pavilion ; wheelchair accessible; walkin shower at request; kitchenettes on request ; large dining ; outdoor play area. But then, the shower curtain needs washing and the curtains are like sheers. Easily covered with a towel or sheet. And bathrooms need a spray of bleach water. They are making improvements. We had a relaxed visit in the cabin."

"This campground was clean and so were the bath houses. It was quiet and spaced well between neighbors. We brought our bikes and rode down to the bridge, but it was closed. The view was still gorgeous. We were practically alone. The ranger is on call, but we made reservations online, and a packet was waiting when we arrived."
