Crystal Lake Middle School

"HORRIBLE!!!!! DO NOT PUT YOUR CHILD IN THIS SCHOOL IF YOU CARE ANYTHING ABOUT THEM AT ALL!!!! A few of the teachers seem to be decent people but others yell at the kids and have nasty rude hateful attitudes towards the kids. If you confront them about their behavior they retaliate by making false allegations on you and your child to dcf. After you go through everything with dcf and it is proven a deliberate and blatant lie and you again confront them then they attempt to deny they ever made a report. If your child behaves like a child and shows out they baker act them into mental health services. Several kids have been done this way, none of mine. Mama bear is putting it mildly. And God forbid they get sick and not come to school spreading germs everywhere then they send you letters threatening you with social workers. Don’t even get me started on the bullying, fights, and drugs. I hear it all. My child tells me everything. And yes bullying is obviously tolerated. This is one of the worst schools I have ever had the misery of dealing with. Love your kids and pull them out of there like I am doing."

"If you have ANY other option for schooling, take it. This school is terrible. It smells like a jail, the teachers are grossly underpaid therefore unhappy to be there and the 90% of the students have the mentality of wild animals with no moral compass. There are fights every single day. Your child will get suspended for even the smallest infraction and forget trying to get help if your child is struggling. They are F rated for a reason! RUN"

"This is the school I went to for three years and it is not as bad as people claim. You as a student have to be responsible they don't allow fights and if there is a fight its broken up. The students are not the best behaved but the school works hard and is now a c school. The staff are very helpful and their is bullying but the school resource officer deals with that the school is slowly working to better the students and the school."

"My niece is being bullied every single day at this school. The staff has done nothing to the students that have been tormenting her. To the staff at Crystal Lake Middle School..My sister might be a push over but I am different. If the bullying don't stop I will have every news station I can contact at your school. I will bring friends to protest. If it does not stop after that I will file a lawsuit against the school on behalf of my niece for punitive damages and emotional distress. I am not kidding!!!!!!!!!"

"This school is a joke. We moved here 5 months ago and when trying to enroll my kids i was told they were not excepting any new students due to going on break and the bad grades. So after break i called back and was told the same thing. So I had one child in school because that school did their job and two not in school because this school didn't do their job. At the beginning of this school year i tried enrolling all three and got the same result. The school that my sons were in before we moved here sent all the necessary paperwork to this school and the guidance secretary called me back and said she had them. So i went a day later to enroll them and have my daughter's paperwork transferred to enroll her too. When i got there i was told that they never received any such papers and that she didn't have any idea who i talked to but it was not her. I called today to try to see if they found anything and was told again that i was mistaken about who i had talked to but when she had called previously she had stated her name. So now my kids have missed 9 days of school and i have to find another school to get them in that will bus them because i work 12 hour days with no way to get them there."
